Massage Therapy

At MAXX Physical Therapy, we have found therapeutic massage to be a beneficial rehabilitation tool for many of our patients. Talk to your physical therapist to determine which massage treatment is best for you!

Available Massages

Swedish Massage - A good introduction to massage therapy – helps to increase circulation, reduce muscle tensions, and decrease overall stress by relaxing the body’s nervous system.

Deep Tissue Massage - Addresses the deeper layers of muscle and the “knots” that develop in tissue causing stress, tension, and postural distortion.  Deep tissue works to soften and lengthen shortened, hardened muscle tissue.

Neuromuscular Therapy - Also known as “trigger point” therapy.  Trigger points are focal points of hypersensitivity in tissue that generate pain. NMT works to identify and eliminate trigger points that cause dysfunction in the body.

Thai Yoga Massage - Think the ebb and flow of the ocean as you are gently rocked, massaged and stretched in various yoga poses. Herbal compresses are applied to tight muscles to help move you through the stretches while calming and clearing the mind. Thai massage is a combination of yoga assisted stretching, shiatsu and massage. The treatment is adjusted to the level of your flexibility. You remain completely clothed for this treatment and should bring/wear yoga type pants or thin sweats and a loose t-shirt.

Insurance & Pricing

Will my insurance pay for a massage?

Benefits for massage therapy depends on your individual policy. We recommend you call your insurance company to find out if massage therapy is covered.

If your policy does not cover massage therapy, and it is requested outside of your physical therapy treatment plan, then affordable pricing is offered in 15-minute increments from 15-minute to 90-minute treatments.
